Korecia joined the PSRI Accounting Department in January 2016 where she works directly with the Controller on daily financial duties.
Prior to joining PSRI she worked with small to mid-size construction companies in the City of Chicago. The companies included general contractors, HVAC companies, and electrical contractors. The employees of these companies were covered under collective bargaining agreements with Pipefitters Local 597 and IBEW Local 365. These contractors secured large contracts with organizations such as the City of Chicago, Walsh Construction, and F.H. Paschen.
Korecia was involved in preparing lien waivers and draw requests in addition to accounting and payroll responsibilities. Government funded contracts also required her to prepare certified payroll reporting in addition to her payroll duties.
She began her career as an administrative assistant and developed her knowledge of accounting through experience. Her practical knowledge of accounting provided the opportunity to lead the implementation of construction accounting software in one of the smaller organizations she worked as it grew. Startup companies sought after her knowledge to help get their companies MBE/WBE/DBE certified with the City of Chicago procurement programs.
Her interest in accounting and lifelong learning have allowed her to develop into many roles in the accounting department while working directly with senior management.
